How to Obtain a PKK Number in Poland
If you would like to obtain a driving licence in Poland, the first step is to receive a PKK number (Driver Candidate Profile). Below you will find a clear step-by-step guide explaining the process.
1. Contact the Department of Motor Vehicles (Wydział Komunikacji)
You should contact the Wydział Komunikacji (Department of Motor Vehicles) responsible for your place of residence.
Inform them that you would like to obtain a PKK number (“Chcę otrzymać PKK”). The office will confirm which documents are required. Typically, you will need:
A medical certificate confirming fitness to drive
A passport-style photograph
Address registration in Poland (meldunek)
2. Obtain Address Registration (Meldunek)
To receive a PKK number, you must be officially registered at a Polish address.
Visit your local Urząd Miasta / Urząd Gminy (City Office) with your rental agreement (umowa najmu) and apply for a meldunek (address registration certificate).
3. Medical Certificate
You must undergo a medical examination confirming that you are fit to drive.
4. Photograph
Prepare a passport-style photograph that meets official Polish document requirements.
5. Submit Documents and Receive Your PKK Number
Once you have collected all required documents:

Submit them to the appropriate Wydział Komunikacji office. After verification, you will receive your PKK number.
6. Residency Requirement
